The secretary of the Civil Service Commission for the City of Cleveland will begin accepting applications for the classification of “Firefighter – City of Cleveland” on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Application submissions can only be made during the period of Monday, June 2, 2014 through Thursday June 12, 2014 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Applications will be accepted on Saturday, June 7, 2014 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The written portion of the Civil Service examination will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Cleveland Public Auditorium, 500 Lakeside Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114. Applications must be made on an official Civil Service application form attainable at the Cleveland Public Auditorium, during the filing period of June 2 through June 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on June 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Applications will also be accepted at the following Recreation Centers from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the dates listed below:

Tuesday, June 3, 2014: Gunning Recreation Center, 16700 Puritas Avenue

Thursday, June 5, 2014: Zelma George Recreation Center, 3155 Martin Luther King Blvd.

Tuesday, June 10, 2014: Estabrook Recreation Center, 4125 Fulton Road

Wednesday, June 11, 2014: John F. Kennedy Recreation Center, 17300 Harvard Avenue

In addition, The Cleveland Division of Fire is offering free preparatory classes for the firefighter entrance examination scheduled for June 28, 1014. The classes will begin Monday, June 2, 2014. The class days, times, and locations are as follow:

Days: Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday

Times: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m./6:00 – 8:00 p.m./8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Morning locations: Cleveland Public Auditorium, 500 Lakeside Avenue Cleveland Job Corps, 13421 Coit Road

Evening locations: Cleveland Fire Training Academy, 3101 Lakeside Avenue

Anyone interested in classes must select one of the following class sessions:
